The addition of the taller curation module negatively impacted the more stories experience. Currently, if a reader clicks on more stories at the bottom of the stream, the page re-loads and lands on a curation module that the reader has already seen instead of showing the expected, ‘more articles’ at the top of the stream.
Test Duration: 12 hours
We will be monitoring...
- Homepage stream clicks
- Session Duration
- Homepage Second view metrics
- Curation module metrics
- Ad view-ability
We analyzed a few different variants for this test.
- When clicking on More Stories show `#` more articles in the stream.
- When clicking on More Stories reload the page, keep the curation module and drop the user at the top of the stream with the scroll back nav open and jump to top arrow present
- When clicking on More Stories reload the page, keep the curation module and drop the user at the ad mezzanine with the scroll back nav open and jump to top arrow present
Option (1) scope was out of line with our roadmap and therefore punted for future road mapping when we have time to correctly implement.
Option (2 & 3) proved difficult due to the inconsistency and unreliability of the ad unit size.
